2018 kicked off with a bang. Meltdown and Spectre have both proven to be a huge problem for CPU makers around the world.
Azure and AWS which host many gaming services, such as Fortnite started rolling reboots of services this week. It seems these updates have taken a toll with Fortnite being one of the first casualties.
PSA: Our cloud services were affected by updates required to mitigate the Meltdown vulnerability. We rely on cloud services to run our backend and we may experience further service issues in the next few days due to ongoing updates.

Since the patch for this exploit hampers performance by up to 30% in some cases, I’m sure this is causing some pain for hosting providers.
Expect more downtime from gaming companies over the next week.
