Dead Space: Convergence runs until 10 November with a 16-player co-op horde mode, the Pulse Rifle and Isaac-inspired cosmetics. Just don't expect EA to mention necromorphs.

Marker Incursion is a new 16-player PvE mode at Area 51: fight Marked Soldiers, smash Marker Shrines and stop the Convergence.
The DS-23 Pulse Rifle is a Battle Pickup in Marker Incursion, and it also shows up in REDSEC's Battle Royale and Rapid Royale.
Earn Semiconductors to unlock the "Aegis VII" engineer-suit skin, the "RIG-Certified" SMG package, stickers, patches and a player card. There are two paid bundles too.
Our take: a fun Halloween mode, but EA's guide doesn't mention necromorphs, and Dead Space is mostly a cosmetic these days.
Battlefield 6 has gone full space horror for Halloween. The Battlefield 6 x Dead Space: Convergence event is live now and runs until 10 November. It adds a new 16-player co-op mode, the Pulse Rifle and a skin that looks a lot like Isaac Clarke’s engineering suit.
It ties into Season 5’s new Area 51 map. EA’s non-canon “what if” story is that Pax Armata breaks into the base looking for classified tech and finds a Marker instead. That’s the alien artefact from Dead Space that sends everyone near it violently mad. Soldiers start seeing things, scrawling symbols everywhere and turning on their own squads.
You earn Semiconductors, the event’s own currency, by finishing event challenges, killing Marked Soldiers and finding them in Battle Royale and Rapid Royale. You then spend them on:
There are also two Dead Space bundles in the paid store, because of course there are.
This isn’t the first crossover. Isaac’s helmet was hidden in Battlefield 3’s Aftermath DLC. Battlefield Hardline was made by Visceral Games, the original Dead Space studio, and it’s packed with references. Battlefield 2042 ran a Dead Space-themed Outbreak event. EA says Convergence is the biggest one yet.
A 16-player co-op horde mode on a brand-new Area 51 map is a genuinely fun Halloween idea, and the Pulse Rifle in Battle Royale is going to cause chaos. With over 50,000 people on Steam alone at the time of writing, Battlefield 6 is in good shape heading into it.
But read EA’s own guide closely. The enemies are Marked Soldiers, which is a fancy way of saying humans with a bad attitude. It doesn’t mention necromorphs once, even though the key art is full of them. A Dead Space event where you don’t cut off limbs is a bit like a Halloween party with no lollies. We’ll find out tonight whether there’s more lurking in there than EA is letting on.
And there’s the bitter bit. This is the most Dead Space content EA has shipped since the 2023 remake. Dead Space 4 reportedly never got off the ground, and Visceral was shut down in 2017. So Isaac’s legacy lives on as a cosmetic skin in a military shooter. It’ll be fun, but it’s hard not to feel a bit like the series is being dug up to sell bundles.
