Bandai Namco has put out a new trailer for Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero’s Super Limit-Breaking NEO, the biggest DLC the game has had. This one is all about Limit Breaker Journey, a new solo mode that’s basically a Dragon Ball roguelike. One thing up front, because the name is a mouthful: NEO is an expansion, not a sequel, and it’s already out on PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It landed on 30 July. The Switch and Switch 2 versions are due in 2027.

The base game launched on 11 October 2024 and was a monster hit. It sold more than 3 million copies in its first 24 hours, passed 5 million by February 2025 (making it the fastest-selling Dragon Ball console game), and scored 81 to 83 on Metacritic across PS5, Xbox and PC. It was also nominated for Best Fighting Game at The Game Awards 2024. It reached Switch and Switch 2 in November 2025, and with NEO the roster now sits well past 240 fighters.
We’re big fans of Sparking! Zero. It’s the Budokai Tenkaichi 3 sequel people begged for since 2007, and it actually delivered. Limit Breaker Journey fixes the one thing that held it back: what to do once you’d finished the episode battles and you’re not about to go and get bodied online. A light roguelike loop where you build up your favourite fighter and keep them is exactly the sort of thing that keeps the disc in the drive.
The catch is the price. NZ$56.95 for DLC is steep, even for 33 characters and a new mode, and the NEO Edition at NZ$134.95 is a lot of coin if you’re coming in fresh. Wait for a sale if you can. And if you’re on Switch, sorry, you’ve got another year to wait.
