The Wolf Among Us Remastered launches digitally on 29 October on PC (Steam, Epic), PS5 and Xbox, for US$24.99 with 20% off at launch.
New: upgraded visuals, animation and audio, a black-and-white Noir Mode, five playable Lost Scenes, a 100+ image art gallery and an hour of dev interviews.
The whole first episode, "Faith", is a free demo on Steam during Next Fest (until 26 October).
The Switch version has slipped to a later, unannounced date. Boxed copies follow in early 2027.
The Wolf Among Us 2 is now targeting 2027, nearly a decade after it was first announced.
Telltale’s noir masterpiece is coming back. The Wolf Among Us Remastered launches digitally on 29 October on PC (Steam and Epic), PS5 and Xbox. It costs US$24.99, with 20% off at launch. A new story trailer debuted at the ID@Xbox x IGN showcase overnight and shows off Bigby’s redesigned wolf form. If you never played the original, the full first episode is free on Steam right now.
This isn’t a quick upscale. Telltale lists:
All five episodes are included: Faith, Smoke and Mirrors, A Crooked Mile, In Sheep’s Clothing and Cry Wolf. You get it all on day one, with no waiting a month between chapters like we did back in 2013–14.
Steam Next Fest runs until 26 October, and the remaster has a demo containing all of Episode 1, “Faith”. That’s a couple of hours and a proper look at the new visuals. It’s the best way to find out whether you’ll enjoy a choice-driven detective story before you spend anything.
It’s set in Fabletown, a hidden community of fairytale characters living in grimy 1980s New York. It’s based on Bill Willingham’s Fables comics. You play Bigby Wolf, who used to be the Big Bad Wolf and is now the town’s sheriff, hunting a killer after a body turns up on the doorstep. It’s a hard-boiled noir with a neon-soaked comic-book art style. You make dialogue choices against a timer, and characters remember what you did to them. The original sits at 98% positive across more than 40,000 Steam reviews, and many people still rank it as Telltale’s best work.
Still coming, and now targeting 2027. It was first announced in 2017 and died with Telltale’s collapse in 2018. The revived Telltale brought it back at The Game Awards in 2019, scrapped that work, started over, and then missed its 2025 window. The remaster is clearly meant to get people caught up before the sequel finally lands. Whether it actually lands in 2027 is a different question.
Look, if you’ve never played The Wolf Among Us, stop reading and go and download the free demo. The original was excellent. It had sharp writing, a cracking soundtrack, and a lead who could be a brute or a decent bloke depending on how you played him. Its look still holds up 13 years later. US$25 for all five episodes plus the cut scenes is a fair price for one of the best stories Telltale ever told.
A few honest caveats. It’s still a 2013 Telltale game underneath. Many of your choices change how scenes play out rather than where the story ends up. That was true then, and a remaster won’t fix it. If you played it back in the day, the real reasons to come back are Noir Mode and the five Lost Scenes. Whether that’s worth paying again depends on how big the discount for existing owners turns out to be, and Telltale hasn’t said yet. Switch players also lost their launch date in the latest announcement, which isn’t a great look a week out. And after nearly a decade of Wolf Among Us 2 delays, we’ll believe 2027 when it’s in our library.
Still, Bigby’s back, the game looks great, and you can try the first episode for nothing. Easy recommendation.
